Compliance Coordinator

C&D Foods’ Headquarters is in Mullingar, county Westmeath.
We are seeking a Compliance Coordinator to play a key role in maintaining and continuously improving our Food Safety and Quality Management Systems. Reporting to the Site Quality Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with customer Codes of Practice, BRCGS, IFS, and internal standards. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality professional to drive food safety culture, support audit readiness, lead compliance initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement across a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Role Overview
- Implement, Develop and Maintain the Food Safety Management system under guidance from the Quality Manager. This involves review of all relevant customer COPs and supporting documents, BRC/IFS standards and the C&D Foods Quality Management System identifying the gaps and implementing the changes to ensure compliance. Liaising with the owners of the relevant prerequisites & areas managers to ensure they are aware of their ownership and responsibility to the food safety management system.
- Completion of gap analysis against the above to create the Procedures and SOPS required to ensure compliance.
- Working with production in the development of site practices in line with Retailer Standards & Codes of Practices.
- Reporting to the site Quality Manager this role will be share in the responsibility for full site Food Safety & Quality programme.
- Compiling reports and driving the food safety culture in the business will be key deliverables.
- Due to the complexity of the individual requirements of our customer base, we are a highly audited site and must be compliant with the customer COP, Standards, IFS, BRC and our own internal group benchmarking standards.
- The primary focus of the Compliance Coordinator will be to strengthen the food safety management system to ensure it encompasses all requirements of the retailer COPs, Standards, BRC, IFS to ensure we are audit ready every day from a factory focus and documentation perspective and related standards.
- The Compliance Coordinator will assist in leading and coordinating all site FS & QMS systems and projects as well as the site behavioural programme. Improving the QMS / FS programme and involvement in the company Continuous Improvement programme will be key delivery objectives as directed by the Site Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Main Objectives
- Develop, Implement and maintain the Food Safety Management System under guidance from the Quality Manager. This involves review of all relevant customer COPs and supporting documents, BRC/IFS standards and the C&D Foods Quality Management System identifying the gaps and implementing the changes to ensure compliance. Liaising with the owners of the relevant prerequisites & areas managers to ensure they are aware of their ownership and responsibility to the food safety management system
- Review of all customer COPs to ensure compliance and responds to any customer alerts.
- Keeps “Block out dates” up to date for any potential unannounced customer audits
- Manage compliance to BRC/IFS standards and the C&D Foods Quality Management System.
- Completion of gap analysis against the above to create the Procedures and SOPS required to ensure compliance to encompass all customer COPs
- Liaising with the owners of the relevant prerequisites to ensure compliance.
- Member of Internal Audit, Traceability and HACCP teams.
- Implement, lead and track internal quality audit programme on site.
- Lead / participate in customer audits and factory visits.
- Ensure all audit non-conformances (internal/ External) are robustly closed in accordance with the agreed timelines.
- Know and understand raw material supplier approval and control process, procedure and documentation.
- Manager the document control process for the Food Safety Management System
- Cover for Deputy Quality Manager (Factory Focus) and work with production on any quality issues as and when required.
- Work closely with other members of the Quality Dept to achieve the Key quality Objectives of the site.
- Input the site quality KPIs weekly.
- Track Quality performance for the site.
- Drive Quality Improvement projects and identify areas of opportunity for business improvement
- Covers for the Quality Administrator with particular focus on customer complaints.
- Know and understand metal detection CCP1, ensure operators are fully trained, with training verification and the SOP is kept up to date.
Secondary Objectives
- To participate in Continuous Improvement training as directed.
- To work with all areas of the business to assist quality improvement.
- To ensure corrective actions are embedded within all areas of the business.
- Lead the Quality Management / Food Safety programme and report on the Quality KPIs, providing trend analysis.
- To prepare for and participate in Food Safety Culture events on site.
Key Performance Measures
- Timely upload of Weekly KPIs.
- Annual review of the HACCP Plans.
- Report on review of Prerequisite Programme / 2 per month.
- Review and update of SOPS by area in Pouch Plant to incorporate technical guide notices and quality guide notices.
- Zero non conformances in documentation in any external customer or third party audit.
- Completion of all allocated internal audits on time and to schedule.
- Ensure all audit non conformances are closed to agreed timeline.
Personal Competencies and Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, food processing or pharmaceutical with a minimum of 4 years in a dedicated Quality role.
- A third level degree qualification in Food Science, Engineering or similar qualification.
- Strong background in Food Safety, risk assessments and Quality Management Systems and process control in a BRC/IFS environment and experience of Tesco or another retailer COP.
- Experience in the development and management of food safety management systems in a regulated environment, including process management principles, document control and approval, internal audit, and continual improvement is desirable.
- Self motivated individual with good initiative, attention to detail & excellent interpersonal skills, proactive with good time management skills. Excellent interpersonal communication & negotiation skills.
- A demonstrated numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
- A high level computer literacy and competency – Microsoft Office
- A willingness to travel to our other sites throughout Europe as and when required.
- Proven track record of success in delivery of objectives.
- Ability to bring Teams together and motivate staff.
