Lakeland Dairies is Ireland’s second-largest Dairy cooperative.
We process in excess of 1.9 Billion litres of farm produced milk annually, collected from our 3,200 high-quality milk suppliers, across 16 counties in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
At our eight processing sites we manufacture and export an extensive range of top-quality dairy food service and food ingredient products for blue-chip customers in over 80 countries worldwide.
Our Member Relations team works with our milk producers to ensure that the milk arriving at our processing centres meets the highest standards of quality and food safety and that it is compliant with the Department of Agriculture and EU Regulations.
This also helps us to meet the exacting requirements of our valued food industry customers and consumers of Lakeland Dairies produce worldwide.
Lakeland Dairies wish to recruit a dedicated Dairy advisor to join our high-performance advisory team delivering the Lakeland Dairies/Teagasc Joint Programme.
This small team works in close association with Teagasc to assist our milk supplier base in further developing their farm businesses towards sustainable and profitable growth.
This role involves working closely with our high-quality milk supplier base particularly in the North East of our catchment area.
The Lakeland Dairies/Teagasc joint programme has a number of key areas chosen for particular focus in improving farm business performance.
These areas include:
• Improving Efficiency of Milk Production across a range of systems
• Herd Fertility and Health
• Farm Labour Efficiency
• Breeding & Genetics
• AMR / Animal Health initiatives
• Milk Solids Production
• Best practices for non-Seasonal Higher Input Herds
• Replacement Heifer Targets
• Grass production and Grazing Skills Development
A strong self-starter, the successful candidate will have the responsibility for delivering the agreed actions to meet the specific programme goals.
This will include providing one to one on-farm advice to programme participants, assisting with public events/farm walks and supporting initiatives aimed at increasing the level of engagement with the programme. In addition, strong organisational and communication skills will be required.
Education and Experience:
Candidates wishing to apply for this innovative, exciting and challenging role should hold a Level 8 agricultural qualification and must have an in-depth knowledge of modern dairy farming practices across a range of production systems.
