The Role:
The Digital and Accessible Technology (DAT) team is an exciting new team within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland West Region (BOCSI-WR). We are committed to bringing Assistive Technology (AT) and clinical specialists together to enhance the lives of people supported. As part of this team, you’ll get the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team, use state of the art equipment, and bring your own creativity into the role. This position is supported by ReThink Ireland funding under the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 3.0 for a maximum of 8 months ending on or before 31st of March 2026.
Reporting To/ Responsible To:
DAT Officer and the Speech and Language Therapy Manager.
Works with:
- People supported and their circle of support
- Frontline staff
- Multi-disciplinary staff
- Digital and Accessible Technology Team
- Assistive Technology Working Group
- Advocacy group
- Educational, Health, Vocational and Community agencies
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
- Third level qualification in a relevant field such as Assistive Technology, Health and Social Care professions, Teaching, Computer Science, Creative Multimedia, etc. or a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a relevant field.
- Competency and experience in the supervision of staff.
- A keen interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Demonstrates passion for technology and have a good understanding of how technology can support individuals to achieve their goals.
- Have proficiency in using and troubleshooting various digital and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
- A full clean driving licence and the use of one's own car is essential.
- Ability to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service.
- Excellent organisational skills and administrative skills.
- Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent IT skills.
Highly Desirable:
- Competency in the support of people with an intellectual disability in an employment environment.
- Completed Foundations in Assistive Technology Course Level 5 Accredited by Technological University Dublin.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Power Suite.
- QQI Level 5 Intellectual Disability Practice.
- QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer.
Working Hours:
78 hours per fortnight based on a 5-day Monday to Friday basis. Flexibility may be required in order to meet Service demands.
Annual Leave:
The annual leave attached to this post is 22 days per annum.
Remuneration:
Department of Health Instructor/Supervisor salary scale (01/03/2025) - €35,081 x 12 increments - €50,864 per annum basic before premium pay (pro-rata), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Tenure:
This post is temporary, full time and pensionable on a specific purpose basis until the end of March 2026 linked to a temporary funding.
