Join us as a Data Core Engineering Manager

The Data Core Network provides the capability for the delivery of 2G/3G data services, enhanced Mobile Broadband 4G data, and 5G NSA and IOT data services. The Data Core network is vital for the ongoing development of Three Irelands services and future revenue streams.
Providing the best customer experience possible is our highest priority. Therefore, you will ensure the Three Ireland Data Core network is designed, maintained and developed to the highest standards by ensuring the network is secure, has strong network resilience and updated with high quality configuration builds & integrations.
Reporting to the Core Network Manager, the Data Core Engineering manager will be a key member of the Core Network leadership team and will work closely with Core Performance, Voice Core Engineering, and Core Operations managers. The role will also have interactions with multiple stakeholders in the wider Technology and Business teams.
Build strong relationships and provide co-ordination and communication between Network teams, Service Delivery Management and Business 

What else it involves:

  • Build, manage and develop a team highly motivated team of Core Network engineers.
  • Manage the team by reviewing demand, prioritising and scheduling work, approving leave, training, manage performance and development.
  • Liaise with delivery managers to analyse project workflow demand and ensure accurate resource planning and forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain the life cycle management plans for the Data Core elements, providing input to development of the overall Core Network strategy and roadmap.
  • Participate in CAPEX and OPEX budgetary planning activities to help realise the roadmap and execute on the strategy.
  • Responsible for ensuring network change follows the Data Core design process, where possible improving and optimising process and design deliverables.
  • Ensure that the Data Core Network is designed with the security of the network and our Customers as a primary goal, take steps where necessary to address any security shortcomings promptly
  • Work closely with the Core Operations Manager to ensure new data core implementations are ready to be supported and maintained.
  • Support the Core Operations Team when needed to resolve high priority incidents on the Data Core Network
  • Ensure the data core network capacity is planned and in-line with growth forecasts.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Data Core network performance KPIs.
  • Taking initiative to improve network performance KPIs and supporting cross functional performance improvement investigations.
  • Keep current on emerging industry trends and best practices; identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support procurement with scope of works and evaluation for RFPs for services and technical solutions.

The Skills we are looking for:

  • Educated to degree level in a STEM area of study, preferably with the addition of a business management qualification or with equivalent experience in a management role.
  • Will ideally possess minimum of 8 years relevant engineering experience across network design, implementation and operational roles.
  • Previous people management experience, budgetary planning and development of business cases would be valued
  • Demonstrable influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships at all levels within the business
    Strong organisational, administrative and management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ideal candidate would have obtained professional qualifications with frameworks and delivery methodologies like ITILv4, DevOPs, and Agile PM.
