About the role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Engineer preferably with expertise in Databricks to join our Data Engineering Team within the Data Science and Engineering Centre of Expertise at Kerry Group. You will play a critical role in designing and developing our cloud-based data platform to satisfy the data needs of the Analytics & Data Science team and other internal customers. 

The ideal candidate enjoys working with large volumes of data and is passionate about learning new technologies. You will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big (while paying careful attention to detail) and enjoys working in a fast-paced team that will support the Kerry business achieve its strategic growth targets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources into our data lakehouse. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our data sets and data pipelines used by our cross-functional Data Science team.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to next generation data-driven projects in an agile work environment.
  • Develop automated data pipelines with external and internal data suppliers in a lakehouse architecture.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor the delta lake and its data accuracy.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient ETL processes using tools such as Databricks.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
  • Implement and optimize data pipelines for large-scale data processing.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on Databricks, experience with Azure Data Factory is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, and related services.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • 3+ years experience
