What is the Role:

The Data Tribe forms part of the Data Engineering and Architecture function within Data & Analytics in AIB.

The mission of the Data Tribe is to simplify our data landscape enabling us to shift focus from data maintenance to data activation at scale.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful candidate to expand the team’s ability to deliver data products in a best-in-class infrastructure where data and analytical tooling are tightly integrated.

As a Data Engineering Manager in the Finance Domain, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation and support of numerous complex data pipelines to connect operational systems to the consolidated Enterprise Data Warehouse and downstream Financial Reporting systems and consumers. You will be a role model for your community of practice and will be expected to collaborate with stakeholders across the Enterprise to evaluate their needs and translate these into clearly defined accountable milestones that drive delivery and impact. You will also provide thought and technical leadership coupled with career development guidance to your peers, colleagues, and direct reports as appropriate through regular and ongoing engagement.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide ongoing technical and career development guidance to peers and a team of 10 - 15 colleagues.
  • Lead teams, establish best practices and champion engineering standards.
  • Apply knowledge of systems integration to their work.
  • Champion Data Engineering across the bank.
  • Manage Stakeholder engagement and expectations through close collaboration
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure progress against milestones is tracked and reported

What you Will Bring:

  • 8+ years’ experience in a relevant area with knowledge of the software development lifecycle and IT change management, an understanding of Banking with a specific focus on Financial Reporting.
  • 5+ years experience building or overseeing the design and build of complex, large volume data pipelines using appropriate ETL Tooling with a focus on scalability and reliability
  • Data management, analytical and reporting skills - Extensive database experience and advanced SQL - preferably on Teradata, Databricks or similar
  • Experience in managing complex scheduled batch processes within an Enterprise Scheduler and a focus on adhering to SLAs
  • Effective communication skills with a proven record of accomplishment of articulating complex concepts/results in simple language.
  • Experience of leading a team of skilled engineers in a highly focused, fast-paced environment following a defined delivery framework and adhering to published coding standards.
