The Data Management & Quality Lead is responsible for continually improving data quality measurement, reporting, and governance practices to ensure data is trusted, fit for purpose, and effectively governed across the organisation. The role will lead and coordinate the development and embedding of data quality, data management and related standards, and will partner with Data Owners to embed ownership and accountability across the data lifecycle.
What is the Role:
- Lead and develop a high‑performing team of data management and data quality specialists, setting clear direction and priorities to advance the organisation’s data management capabilities and data quality measurement practices.
- Embed Data Quality Standards across the full data lifecycle, from data capture through to consumption, and influence system and process design to ensure data quality is applied by design in new and changing solutions.
- Advance data lineage, metadata and master data management practices to support consistency, tracability and reuse of enterprise data.
- Produce consistent, repeatable data management and data quality reporting, providing clear, actionable insight to stakeholders and governance forums
- Further develop Master Data Management and reference data capabilities, improving consistency, control and reuse of key enterprise data, aligned to established governance, metadata and ownership practices.
- Represent the organisation in internal and external engagements on data quality and data management, including interactions with regulators, internal audit, external audit and delivery partners
- Embed and operationalise data ownership and stewardship, working with Data Owners and System Owners to clarify accountability, drive adoption of ownership responsibilities, and resolve ownership issues through governance where required.
What you Will Bring ;
- Demonstrable experience designing and operating data management and data quality policies and standards within complex organisations, with a clear focus on translating standards into operational practice
- Experience engaging with regulatory bodies, internal audit and external audit functions, including preparing and standing over evidence relating to data quality, lineage, controls and remediation activity.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across business, technology and risk functions and to explain complex data management concepts in clear, pragmatic terms
- A solid understanding of Master Data Management and reference data concepts,
- Experience defining data quality dimensions, thresholds and targets, and using these to inform meaningful
scorecards, KPIs and decision‑making at both domain and enterprise level.
