As a Data Scientist at PTSB, you will be responsible for solving challenging business problems using advanced analytics techniques such as statistical analysis, machine learning, deep Learning, and quantitative analytics. You will understand business requirements, support the development of business cases, and run discovery analytics to identify new and innovative opportunities.


Your role will involve modelling complex business problems through statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualisation techniques. You will support senior leadership by creating business insights, reports, and analyses to aid in the decision-making process. Your role will involve partnering with developers and engineers to deploy, embed, and scale machine learning models to deliver complex projects, as well as devising reusable assets and solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, development and validation of predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
  • Work with business analysts and data product owners to understand the requirements and offer best practice advice in the initial design of use cases.
  • Clean and preprocess data to prepare it for modelling. Collaborate with other data teams within the CDAO to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop data hypotheses and methods and evaluate analytics models. Advise on the effectiveness of specific techniques based on project findings and comprehensive research.
  • Perform thorough testing and evaluation of models to ensure their performance meets the desired business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Data Science, Actuarial Science, Behavioural Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar.
  • Experience with modelling techniques, forecasting, data mining, statistics, and Python (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn etc.) or R programming languages and SQL.
  • Experience working with large data sets and has strong analytical, mathematical, and statistical skills to analyse complex data.
  • Experience delivering projects that apply ML and data science techniques to business problems/opportunities.
  • Knowledge of data cleaning, preparation, and preprocessing techniques.
  • Proven ability to interpret data, extract actionable insights and be able to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in using data visualisation tools to present data findings effectively.


This is a permanent role based in Dublin or Cork.
