As a Data Science Team Lead at PTSB, you will be responsible for leading a team of data scientists in solving challenging business problems using advanced statistical analysis, machine learning methods, such as deep learning, and quantitative analytics. You will understand business requirements, support the development of business cases, lead technical delivery, and run discovery analytics to identify new and innovative opportunities. Your role will involve partnering with developers and engineers to deploy, embed, and scale machine learning models to deliver complex projects, as well as devising reusable assets and solutions
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership to the data science team on advanced data preprocessing techniques and model development, guiding best practices in feature engineering, algorithm selection, model tuning, and deployment to ensure scalable and high-impact solutions to solve complex business challenges.
- Lead team engagements with business analysts and data product owners to understand the requirements and offer best practice advice in the initial design of the data science use case. Ensure that the project is aligned with strategic objectives and will use data to solve business challenges.
- Lead use of statistical techniques to interpret data and analyse results. Developing models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. Identify patterns and trends in complex data sets.
- Ensure quality assurance in line with policies and procedures, and industry best practice ensuring models are robust, explainable and scalable.
- Lead design, delivery, and implementation of predictive models and machine-learning algorithms. Enhancing data collection procedures to include information relevant for building analytic systems.
- Present findings with persuasion and impact through use of data visualisations and storytelling to effectively convey findings to stakeholders. Preparing reports on the results of the analysis with observations.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of relevant experience working with large-scale, complex datasets, including at least 1+ years guiding a team of Data Scientists through project delivery and technical problem-solving.
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Actuarial Science, Behavioural Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar.
- Experience and expertise with modelling techniques including forecasting, data mining, statistical analysis with hands-on experience in Python & R programming languages.
- Experience working with large data sets, have strong analytical, mathematical and statistical skills to analyse complex data.
- Expertise of data cleaning, preparation, and preprocessing techniques.
- Proven ability to interpret data, extract actionable insights and be able to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This is a Permanent role based in Dublin or Cork (Hybrid).
