What is the Role:
- At AIB we are currently on a transformation journey called Tribes@AIB. An Agile organisation is built up of Tribes and Squads. Tribes are sustainable, long-lived teams that deliver on a common purpose. Tribes have clear ownership and are empowered to agree how best to achieve their goals or outcomes. Each Tribe is then made up of a number of Squads, each Squad will work on specific outcomes which will support the overall Tribe.
- The Tribe Tech Lead sets technical strategic direction as a thought leader and defines the quality, architecture, and group standards for the technical and data requirements of the Tribe.
- A recognised specialist in multiple technologies and/or technical delivery. Oversees and guides the shaping and delivery of technology and data changes, aligning to product and customer outcomes.
- Acts as head of tribe for technical deliveries and is responsible for supporting the management of the tribe’s business goals. Co-manages the manpower & tribe budget with the Data Tribe Lead.
- Ensures the Integrity, Resilience and Security of data solutions.
Key accountabilities;
- The Tribe Tech Lead provides technical mentorship, leading the management of technical risks, issues, and dependencies between tribes.
- Sets the standards and develops the technical vision and roadmap within the Tribe, ensuring squads adhere to coding standards, architecture & engineering governance, and control processes, while quality, financial and risk standards are met.
- Leads out on the adoption of ‘best-in-class' and innovative technology and data strategies, overseeing how they are architected using guardrails, coding standards and effective testing practices within the tribe.
- Drives the technical automation and DevOps agenda within the Tribe, to improve cycle-time and speed to market, driving down costs in the process.
- Determine necessary technology and data competencies for squads, ensuring adequate skills and capabilities are in place and support the embedding of Tech and Data performance metrics.
- Leading and building top-performing teams including on-going development of skills and capabilities.
- Ensures the tribe vision and roadmap is cascaded and communicated across the tribe, ensuring tribe members are clear on their role and expected outcomes. Developing and executing technology and data strategies, including the implementation of complex organisational change.
- Manage expectations of all stakeholders, successfully building a network of excellent relationships and influence across the organisation.
- Promoting an atmosphere of confidence and trust in the Tribe and engage members of the Tribe to deliver on technical and data purpose & priorities.
- Ensures the function is run as a commercial, service-oriented business and is compliant with all AIB and Tech and Data governance practices, policies, and standards.
- Build technical networks and ‘communities of practice’ within the Tribe, to ensure consistency and quality across the squads.
- Tech Tribe lead will support Tribe lead in the management of the budgeting and ongoing financial performance of the tribe.
What you Will Bring ;
- Proven and relevant experience in a Data Engineering, Data Analytics and/or Architecture function.
- Experience of navigating complex (matrix) organization structures and managing internal executive stakeholders
- Progressive and effective leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization and within complex contexts
- Experience in managing a distributed team across multiple partners and geographies working to agile methodologies
- Preferably seven or more years of experience in information-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprise
