The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

We are currently seeking applications from highly motivated people, to join our team for the following position:

DAY SERVICE COMMUNITY FACILITATOR - (Good Lives Model)

Ref: 30/2025

Permanent Full-Time (78 hours per fortnight)

Location: Upton Campus (Innishannon) Co. Cork and integrated residential service

The Role

The person/s appointed to the integrated day service will be very flexible in their approach to service provision and have the ability to work both on their own initiative and as a member of a team. He/she will work to the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity ensuring the needs of the service users are being met by them as directed by the Person in Charge. The model of Service will be based on the Good Lives and Stay Well planning systems.

As a team member, the best interests of each person using our service will be paramount in all discussions. Emphasis will be on forming a team approach involving people supported, families, advocates and staff on all relevant issues.

Work as part of the team in Day Service to develop, support and implement person centred programmes in line with HSE New Directions Framework. They will encourage and motivate the day attenders to develop and engage in programmes such as art, drama, sports, social skills, work-placements, joining community groups, with the goal of increasing independence and personal life skills. A Competency in networking, creativity and developing strong links within the community is an integral part of this role.

The role may also require some rotational evening and weekends.

The Candidates

  • Must have a minimum relevant Level 5 (formerly FETAC) qualification on the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) framework OR be undertaking a relevant Social Care / Nursing Qualification Level 7/ Level 8
  • Must have at least 6 months experience of working in the intellectual disability sector with Adults/children.
  • Must have Mandatory training in Manual Handling / People Moving
  • Must have a full driving license which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads
  • Must have experience of working with adults with behaviours that challenge
  • Completion of module on Special Needs and/or Intellectual Disability as part of qualification is desirable
  • Experience of using alternative communication methods is essential.
  • Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific needs and/or clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Good Lives model of service and ARMADILLO risk review process is desirable
  • Salary Scale:€35,081 – €50,864 including 1 LSI per annum (1/3/25 DOH Consolidated Scales) Part-Time hours will be paid pro-rata to a full-time post
