Description

We are now recruiting qualified Motor Technicians to join as Direct Entrant to the Irish Defence Forces. In this role, you'll carry out vehicle repairs and may be posted to the locations within the Army, Naval Service or Air Corps.

About this Role:

  • You will carry out a range of vehicle repairs including servicing, brakes, tyres and timing belts.
  • You will conduct vehicle health checks to identify any additional safety or service work required.
  • You will road test vehicles to verify work carried out.
  • You will adhere to all policies, procedures and safety standards.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Educational/Professional Qualifications:
    • Must hold FAS/SOLAS or equivalent qualification in one of the following:
    • Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
    • Motor Mechanic
    • Construction Plant Fitter
    • Agricultural Mechanics
    • HETAC L7 Agricultural Mechanisation
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age and under 39 years of age. You will be required to provide proof of your age if you progress to the next stage of the competition.
  • You must be at least 5ft 2in (157.48cm) in height. You will be measured during the selection process.
  • No tattoos are to be visible above the collar while serving in the Defence Forces. This will be checked during the selection process and you may not proceed if you have visible tattoos above your collar.
  • Applicants must meet the working permit eligibility criteria to serve as part of the Defence Forces. i.e. You must have a minimum of 5 years eligibility to stay in Ireland. Proof of a valid work permit may be required on application.
  • Must meet medical, physical and security clearance standards, which will be assessed during the recruitment process.
