Purpose of the Role:

The Deputy Chief Finance Officer is a pivotal role within the Hospital and the change process. The DCFO will play a key role in supporting the CFO in overseeing the financial operations, strategy, and compliance activities of the hospital. This role helps ensure financial sustainability, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and accurate financial reporting while supporting high-quality patient care services.

The Deputy CFO will deputise for the CFO as directed. Responsible to the Chief Finance Officer the post holder will work collaboratively with all Directorates within the organisation. Improving efficiency and effectiveness within available resources. The post holder will be committed to challenging the status quo and look for new and improved ways of delivering CHI Goals and objectives, taken into consideration overall Financial Allocation.

Essential Criteria:

· Hold a professional accountancy qualification and be a member of a recognised or prescribed accountancy body such as ACCA, CPA, ACMA, CIMA, ACA or an equivalent accountancy body in another jurisdiction for a minimum of 8 years.

· Significant experience in a senior management role in finance in a large complex environment to include a minimum of 5 years, at senior leadership level, in a finance department in a healthcare setting with multiple stakeholders.

· Significant experience of working collaboratively and cross functionally within a complex working environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders, as relevant to the role.

Experience:

· Experience managing budgets, audits and financial reporting in a complex organization.

· Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office

· Evidence of effective leadership in a challenging and busy environment including a track record of innovation / improvement.

· Strong personal emphasis on achieving high standards of excellence and willingness to take personal responsibility to initiate activities and drive objectives through to a conclusion.

· A track record as an effective leader with a can-do attitude who has led, organised and motivated staff in times of rapid change in a challenging environment.

· A capacity to network and influence stakeholders in a way that promotes the objectives of CHI.

· Ability to challenge effectively and to maintain the highest levels of professional integrity.

· The ability to consider the range of options available, involve other parties at the appropriate time and level to make balanced and timely decision.

· Effective problem solving in complex work environments.

· A capacity to develop new proposals and put forward solutions to address problems in a timely manner.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organisation, and externally.

· Capacity to deliver complex information in understandable terms particularly for staff not familiar with finance.

· An ability to influence and negotiate effectively in furthering the objectives of the role.

· Excellent written communication skills including the ability to produce professional reports.

· A willingness to learn from experience and to identify opportunities to further grow and develop.

· Be driven by a value system compatible with the aims and ethos of CHI.

· Be capable of coping with competing demands without a diminution in performance and be personally committed and motivated for the complex role of Deputy Chief Finance Officer.
