Design Engineer

As a Design Engineer at Terex, based in Farlough, you'll play a pivotal role in the development of new and maintenance of existing Terex Washing Systems Equipment.

What you’ll do

  • Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and modifications to existing products.
  • Produce full manufacturing drawings and engineering bill of materials.
  • Actively participate in the Washing Engineering Research & Development Team.
  • Resolving problems at the root cause quickly and effectively and managing engineering change process relating to group products.
  • Follow relevant standards in the areas of QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
  • Follow group engineering standards and associated IT systems, to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
  • Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability.
  • Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production, purchasing departments and suppliers.
  • Investigate and address customer complaints in a timely manner, attending site meetings if necessary.
  • Drive the standardisation of components and sub-assemblies within washing products.
  • Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends; applying the latest technology to new and existing designs where appropriate to stay current and innovative.

What you’ll bring

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering, ideally with design experience in the mobile / static washing, crushing or screening industry or heavy equipment design.
  • Experience as an innovative engineer with a strong focus on research and development.
  • Competency in the use of 3D Solid Modeling CAD, ideally Pro-Engineer and familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Good technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with Oracle TMS would be an advantage though not essential.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
