Dietitian Senior
The Role
Marymount University Hospital & Hospice provides specialist palliative care services and care for dependent older people in a person-centred, compassionate environment. The Dietetic Service plays a key role in optimising nutritional care and supporting quality of life for patients in the Specialist Palliative Care Unit.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team on a specific purpose contract. The purpose of this post is to lead and deliver a high-quality, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic service, providing advanced nutritional assessment and intervention to meet the complex needs of our service users. The post holder will work collaboratively with medical, nursing, health and social care professionals to support holistic, person-centred care.
The Senior Dietitian will also have a key role in service development, audit and quality improvement, and in the provision of education and support to staff, patients and residents. A flexible, proactive and compassionate approach is essential to ensure that the nutritional needs and preferences of those entrusted to our care are consistently met to the highest standard.
Essential Criteria
Eligible applicants will be those who, on the closing date for the competition:
a) Bachelor in Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics; OR
b) Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and
c) Dietetic qualification approved for registration with CORU, at least equivalent to the above; and
d) At least three years post graduate clinical dietetics experience; and
e) Clinical experience in the dietetic management; and
f) The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability); for the proper discharge of the duties of the office; and
g) Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience working with people with life limiting conditions as relevant to the role.
Desirable Requirements
a) Further training or research in Palliative Care.
b) Experience in work/research related to chronic disease/palliative care
c) Experience in clinical dietetics in the hospital setting
d) Experience in the development of clinical standards, protocols.
