Digital Learning Resource Assistant Readvert

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Curriculum Support

1.          To create a welcoming and supportive environment responsive to meeting the needs of learners and ensuring a high quality learning experience.

2.          To supervise students and ensure discipline is maintained by all users of the Learning Resource Centre.

3.          To assist with the induction of new staff and students and provide instruction on the Canvas VLE and learning resources available and how to access them.

4.          To assist with Higher Education study skills workshops and promote relevant learning resources available

5.          To assist curriculum staff to identify innovative, modern and flexible digital learning resources which may be integrated into curriculum programmes.

6.          To assist students and staff with use of software packages. e.g. Canvas VLE, Microsoft Suite, TurnItIn etc.

7.          To cover the Learning Resource Centre desk at all times and answer general queries, requests for assistance on the helpdesk or telephone enquiries.

8.          To issue learning resources to staff and students and fulfil inter-campus loans. E.g. books, journals, cameras etc. and follow up on returns and over-dues.

9.          To use the computerised stock control system as required for the effective running of the Learning Resource Centre.

10.       To schedule bookings for the HE Room and Audio Pod as requested by staff and students.

11.       To promote and disseminate current learning resources available to staff and students to ensure value for money and effective distribution.

12.       To handle cash transactions from the sale of stationery and printing credits, cashing up daily and ensuring appropriate records are maintained.

13.       To organise and classify displays of learning resources and materials.

14.       To work with Learning Resource Co-ordinator to ensure the work of the Learning Resource Centre is relevant, creative and meets current and future demands.

15.       To attend internal and external meetings to promote the Learning Resource Centre.

16.       Produce accurate and timely reports on learning resource usage when requested.

17.       Ensure proper security of all learning resources and equipment,

18.       Assist in the ordering and cataloguing of ‘new’ learning resource materials.

19.       Support students and staff with routine IT support tasks to include: password resets, print balances etc.

20.       Provide training on Canvas, E-Portfolios, E-Assessments as and when needed

General duties

The post holder is expected:

·       To promote and raise the profile of the College and the services it provides to the local business and civic community;

·       To promote and actively contribute to the Colleges’ Mission, Vision and Values;

·       To fully comply with and actively promote College policies and procedures;

·       Within the context of the post, ensure full compliance with College Health and Safety requirements;

·       To comply with and actively promote College policies and procedures on all aspects of Equality;

·       To participate in staff training and development activities to update and enhance own knowledge, skills and professional competence needed to carry out the role effectively.

Terms and Conditions of Service

All terms and conditions of employment for this post are those as laid down by the Association of NI Colleges non-teaching negotiating committee and are drawn from

the conditions of service of the NJC for local authorities’ staff.

Hours of work: 36 hours per week (Evening cover will be required on a rota basis)

NB: Term time only and flexible hours will be considered

Salary Scale: £21,575 - £21,968 per year

Personnel Specification

·             A relevant qualification at Level 3 or above;

·             GCSE English and Maths (Grade A – C or equivalent);

·             Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with IT packages, this can include placement year work.

·             Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a customer-facing role;

·             Good organisational skills with the proven ability to prioritise and manage workloads to meet deadlines;

·             Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Other:

Access to a car and able to travel between campuses and other business use as required or ability to demonstrate mobility
