The Role

The role involves working as part of the SDCC Communications Team in meeting work goals and objectives and delivering quality services to internal and external stakeholders. The role requires excellent administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills and specific expertise and qualifications as outlined below.

The role will be predominantly desk based work and moving around the council buildings with the potential for specific events outside of Council Buildings subject to requirement.

The office is whole time, permanent and pensionable. A panel will be formed to fill permanent and temporary vacancies. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.

Salary or Wages €36,113 - €38,240 - €41,259 - €43,241 - €44,975 - €46,653 - €48,917 - €50,557 - €52,239 - €53,829 first LSI - €55,460 second LSI

Hours of Work The successful candidate normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week. The position will involve activity outside normal working hours. Additional remuneration will not be payable in respect of evening or weekend work including bank and public holidays. Time off in lieu at normal working rates will be granted at the convenience of the Council in respect of extra hours worked. A set day or time for taking such time off will not be permitted. The Council reserves the right to alter your hours of work from time to time.

Annual Leave Annual leave entitlement for this position is 30 days.

Qualifications

Character Candidates will be of good character.

Health Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Essential Education, Training and Experience Each candidate must on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:

a have obtained at least Grade D or a pass in Higher or Ordinary Level in five subjects or four subjects if Irish is included from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Established Leaving Certificate Examination or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme including Irish and or English and one of the following Mathematics, Accounting, Business Organisation or Economics

and

b have obtained at least Grade C or Honours in higher level or Honours papers in three subjects in that examination or two subjects if Irish and or one of the following is included Mathematics, Accounting, Business Organisation or Economics

or

  • have obtained a comparable standard in an equivalent examination
  • or

  • hold a third level qualification of at least degree standard
  • Desirable Education, Training and Experience

  • A minimum Level 7 qualification or above on the National Framework of Qualifications maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland or equivalent in Digital Marketing or similar.
  • Excellent knowledge of the social media world and how it can be used to an advantage.
  • High proficiency or experience in Wordpress, Wix, PTools or another Web Content Management System CMS.
  • Knowledge of Mailchimp or equivalent email marketing platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation SEO, Search Engine Marketing SEM, keyword research, and Google Analytics.
  • A knowledge and understanding of analytics reporting for example quarterly reporting via Google Analytics or Matomo monthly statistic compiling.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office products Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Experience an advantage in Adobe Creative Suite InDesign, Photoshop, Canva.
  • Excellent analytical skills are essential to decipher data, identify patterns, and gain actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey ideas, collaborate with diverse teams, and engage with a variety of audiences.
  • The ability to develop innovative content and strategies, unique and engaging campaigns that stand out.
  • The ability to adapt to changes in the digital landscape.

    Duties

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Creating comprehensive digital marketing strategies aligned to the Council brand.
  • Analysing digital data to report on the performance of campaigns and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
  • In conjunction with the Digital Content Officer, producing high quality, engaging, relevant, on brand content for websites, social media, digital screens to engage the target audience.
  • Identifying the appropriate online channels and content for each campaign, to maximise engagement with the target audience.
  • Create and publish content across all online channels, social media, website, and communications systems.
  • Coordinate paid media campaigns for example but not limited to Meta, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google and subsequent performance reporting.
  • Coordinate and produce regular email marketing campaigns for both internal and external audiences.
  • Ensure website is optimised for Senior Executive Officer.
  • Monitor and report on social channels by capturing and analysing the appropriate social data, metrics, insights, and best practices, and then implementing changes.
  • Measure campaigns and engagements by defining the metrics and ensuring KPIs are met.
  • Providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the section, department, or division.
  • Ensuring high levels of customer service, responding to queries and requests for information in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
  • Communicating and liaising effectively with employees, supervisors, and managers in other sections, senior managers, and customers in relation to operational matters for their section.
  • Providing specialist administrative assistance and support in the delivery of projects as required.
  • Dealing with standard enquiries and correspondence by email, including forwarding to other members of the section, coordinating draft replies, flagging, tracking, and following up emails and correspondence as appropriate.
  • Undertaking any other duties as required by the Council from time to time.
  • Good team player with ability to multitask, and enjoy an environment that is dynamic and fast paced.
