About the Role

We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Graduate Digital PR Trainee to join our growing digital team on a two-year fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position upon successful completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to build a career in digital marketing, combining the creative aspects of Digital PR and the craft of producing high-quality web content, with the analytical and technical elements of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). The successful candidate will work across a variety of client campaigns, helping to improve online visibility, secure media coverage, build authoritative backlinks, and support wider digital marketing strategies.

Above all, we're looking for someone with a natural flair for creativity. The kind of person who's full of ideas and excited to bring fresh thinking to the table. Creative thinking is at the heart of everything we do, and we want someone keen to develop that instinct for spotting a great story and shaping it into a standout campaign.

Full training and mentoring will be provided, making this an ideal entry-level position for someone eager to learn and develop within a fast-paced agency environment.

Key Responsibilities

Digital PR

  • Research and identify media opportunities relevant to client campaigns.
  • Assist in creating press releases, media alerts, articles, and thought leadership content.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Support outreach campaigns to secure media coverage and backlink opportunities.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile campaign performance reports.
  • Research trending topics and develop ideas for newsworthy campaigns.
  • Source and gather public data sets to turn campaign ideas into original research, then apply simple analysis, such as ranking and comparing data points, to create league tables and other newsworthy angles. (Full training provided.)
  • Learn to produce simple, eye-catching graphics to bring our stories to life, from maps to league tables, that help secure and strengthen media coverage.

SEO

  • Develop a working understanding of how Digital PR supports SEO, helping clients rank higher and earn visibility across search engines and AI-driven answer engines (AEO).
  • Understand the value of authoritative backlinks and brand mentions, and how earned coverage strengthens a client's domain authority and search performance.
  • Use keyword and topic research to inform campaign angles and content that align with what audiences are actively searching for.
  • Write engaging, well-structured blog content optimised for search, using target keywords naturally to support clients' organic visibility.
  • Learn how to read and interpret key metrics, rankings, referring domains, and organic visibility to demonstrate the SEO impact of PR coverage.
  • Support reporting by connecting media coverage and backlinks to improvements in client search visibility.

General

  • Collaborate with account managers, SEO and digital PR colleagues.
  • Stay up to date with developments in SEO, digital PR, search engines, LLM’s and media trends.
  • Support client meetings and contribute creative ideas during campaign planning sessions.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree in PR, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Creative Writing, Arts or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Genuine interest in digital PR, media relations, Digital marketing, SEO, and communications.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Desirable

  • Understanding of SEO principles and search engine ranking factors.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, ChatGPT, Claude or similar tools.
  • Previous internship, placement year, university project, or work experience in marketing, PR, journalism, or communications.
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted content creation tools and emerging digital technologies.
