This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity to join as a Director to AIB Group’s Corporate Development team, who are responsible for completing M&A transactions (acquisitions, joint ventures, divestments) on behalf of the Bank in line with the Group’s strategy.

Recent successful transactions completed by the team over the past 3 years include:

    • Acquisition of Goodbody Stockbrokers
    • Acquisition of the €4.2bn performing corporate and commercial loan book from Ulster Bank
    • Acquisition of the €5.7bn portfolio of performing tracker mortgages from Ulster Bank
    • Joint Venture with Canada Life / Great West Life Co.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Play an integral role in critically assessing and executing strategic investment opportunities which are aligned with AIB's group strategy.
  • Take a lead role in the management and co-ordination of a cross functional due diligence process to assess risk / return probabilities of a Transaction.
  • Build trust and co-operation by two-way engagement with internal and external stakeholders who will assist with transaction processes.
  • Demonstrates strong capabilities in negotiating Transaction contracts.
  • Prepare and present investment approval papers, briefing papers, presentations, etc. to relevant decision authorities as required for transactions.
  • Assist with developing and managing pipeline opportunities through external networking and partnering with AIB business leaders.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  • Proven and relevant technical experinece in M&A (Corporate Finance / Transaction Services / Equity Investing). 
  • Strong analytical / financial modelling background and commercial awareness.
  • Extensive communication skills (written and verbal) at C-suite level (Board / Executive Committees).
  • Strong relationship and cross functional stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record of project delivery against challenging objectives and timelines.
  • Track record of leading and motivating a team of people in pursuit of demanding goals.
