DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Full-Time, Permanent Contract

St. Michael's House (SMH) is a leading Section 38 organisation in the field of intellectual disability in Ireland and has a turnover of over €133M; a staff complement of over 1,850 employees and delivers services to over 2300 children and adults, their families, and carers in over 200 locations across the greater Dublin area.

St. Michael’s House has a research partnership with UCD and runs QQI accredited programmes of education up to and including Honours Degree Level through its Open Training College.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive (CEO), the Director of Finance is a key member of the Executive Management Team and has overall responsibility for the leadership and development of the finance functions of the organisation. This includes the production of the annual finance budget, the management of cash flow, and the production of management information for the CEO, the Executive Management Team, the Audit and Finance Committee, the Board, and the Health Service Executive (HSE).

The Director of Finance works closely with the CEO by contributing to the development of the organisation’s strategy across all areas, challenging assumptions, and decision-making as appropriate, and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers. Responsibility for ensuring the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met, as well as internal and external audits, forms an integral part of the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates will be qualified accountants with at least five years’ experience of managing a substantial service delivery organisation ideally within the healthcare and/or social care fields.
  • A knowledge of public sector accounting and financial management systems, or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge is desirable.
  • Core competencies and attributes required to be successful in this unique position include high levels of: Strategic Appreciation, Financial Planning, Management and Expenditure Control, Coaching and Advisory, Relationship Building, Leadership, Communication, Resilience, and Quality Service.
  • A commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Values of SMH is essential.

REMUNERATION

HSE Grade General Manager pt.1: €84,898 to pt.7: €105,604

Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
