DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Full-Time, Permanent Contract

St. Michael's House (SMH) is a leading Section 38 organisation in the field of intellectual disability in Ireland and has a turnover of over €133M; a staff complement of over 1,850 employees and delivers services to over 2300 children and adults, their families, and carers in over 200 locations across the greater Dublin area.

St. Michael’s House has a research partnership with UCD and runs QQI accredited programmes of education up to and including Honours Degree Level through its Open Training College.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, The Director of Finance has overall responsibility for the leadership and development and effective management of the finance functions of the organisation, including the production of the annual finance budget, the management of cash flow and the production of management information for the CEO, the Executive Management Team (EMT), the Audit and Finance Committee, the Board and the HSE.

As part of the HSE Finance program St. Michael’s House is now using an Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) SAP S/4HANA to unify finance, procurement, and budget management across the organisation.

The role also involves working closely with the Chief Executive by contributing fully to the development of the organisation’s strategy across all areas, challenging assumptions, and decision-making as appropriate, and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets, and business drivers.

The Director of Finance will also ensure the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met as well as internal and external audits.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in Ireland and hold the necessary authorisation to work full time without restrictions.

Essential Education:

  • Educated with relevant Third Level Qualification – Qualified Accountant.

Desirable Education

  • A post graduate management or business qualification.

Essential Experience

  • A high degree of analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills in financial and business management.
  • Substantial experience of managing a service organisation within the health or social care fields.
  • Experience of managing staff and other resources.
  • Excellent process management and organisational skills.
  • An ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Strong communication skills including influencing, persuading and problem solving.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent knowledge of Public Sector accounting and financial management systems, or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge is desirable.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using a SAP enabled accounting system would be desirable. The Director of Finance will provide strategic leadership across all financial operations within a SAP enabled accounting environment, ensuring compliance with public sector financial governance, audit requirements, and statutory reporting.

REMUNERATION

HSE Grade General Manager pt.1: €87,471 to pt.7: €108,804

Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
