The Role:
Customer Operations develop deliver and support excellent customer experience and service to both domestic and non-domestic customers within a regulated industry. Customer Operations responsible for managing the customer relationship with the Customer Contact Centre, ensuring timely and accurate customer billing services, Connection and Developer Services (CDS) and effectively implementing the Uisce Éireann customer strategy.
Connections and Developer Services (CDS) are responsible for the customer engagement and stakeholder relationship management of all connections to the Uisce Éireann network. The CDS team manage the customer journey from development concept design, statutory planning process, pre-connection, technical design, site quality assurance, vesting of new asset and final connection and metering, including developing commercial/technical customer agreements, and managing customer funding in adherence to all technical standards, connection charging policy and governance requirements. CDS are responsible for delivering a highly effective customer service, including reviewing, and implementing solutions to meet changing customer needs. Collaboration with several key business partners is essential for the successful delivery of connections on behalf of the customer.
Management of Diversions and Build Over processes is critical to ensuring the integrity and future operation and maintenance of Uisce Éireann assets. Reporting to the Diversions Engineer Lead, the Diversions Design Engineer initially focuses on early stage engagement on proposed new developments, will review customer proposals, make critical technical observations, manager interactions with the customer and key internal stakeholders including Asset Management, Asset Operations, Infrastructure Delivery Directorate (IDD) to define solutions, prepare estimates and legal agreements. The Diversion Engineer will guide customers through the journey to complete works to support development whilst protecting the integrity of assets.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop detail engineering designs for water and wastewater diversions, ensuring technical feasibility, regulatory compliance and environmental impact.
- Review and assess engineering designs and ensure plans align with Uisce Éireann standards and technical specifications.
- Ensure all design work adheres to legal and environmental requirements, obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
- Work closely with developers and regulatory authorities to incorporate requirements and feedback into design plans.
- Provide technical guidance on diversions.
- Address complex engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions to optimise project outcomes.
- Support the Diversions Engineer Lead in executing project plans, ensuring alignment with Uisce Éireann standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of diversion and connection projects.
- Maintain records of assigned diversions projects, including design documents, inspection reports and correspondence.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency.
- Keep abreast with water industry regulations, codes and standards ensuring all diversions adhere to legal and environmental requirements.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
- Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Third level qualification (Level 8) in Engineering, or related degree.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater design, planning applications and connections regulation is desirable.
- Experience in independently resolving customer challenges while maintaining high service standards.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally.
- Experience in encouraging teamwork and knowledge-sharing to enhance team performance. Evidence of motivating colleagues to achieve shared goals and improve outcomes.
- Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate information to others.
- Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and make improvement decisions that benefit the team/communities.
- Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements.
