Clinical Midwife Specialist: Infant Feeding/Lactation

There is currently 0.5WTE permanent vacancy available in Maternity Services, Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise

The purpose of this CMSp. post is to:

Deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008 and in line with the Guidance Document to support the Professional Development for clinical nurse/midwife specialist and for candidate clinical nurse/midwife specialist (ONMSD, 2024). Also, to deliver care based on the recommendations by the HSE National Breastfeeding Implementation Group, Strategic, Planning & Transformation Division and Children’s Health Ireland Breast feeding Policy Statement (2022).

Post specific requirements

• Candidates must possess an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) qualification, or agree to complete within two years of taking up post. Demonstration of recertification on a five yearly basis or as identified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners as applicable.
• Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in the specialist area of infant feeding/lactation as relevant to the role.
