Details of the Service

Older Person Services - comprises of many services including Residential Services, Home Support Services HSE respite, contracted Respite Care services and Day Care Services. There are 9 designated centres for Older People approved by the Health Information and Quality Authority. Each unit offers Long Term Care to Older People. Some Centres also offer short stay beds to include respite services, palliative care, rehabilitation and short stay therapeutic beds. Day Care services are also co-located in many of the Community Nursing Units The 9 Community Nursing Units in the Midlands IHA are

· Community Nursing Unit, Abbeyleix, Co Laois

· St Brigid’s CNU, Shaen, Co Laois

· St Vincent’s CNU, Mountmellick, Co Laois

· Ofalia House, Edenderry, Co Offaly

· Riada House, Tullamore, Co Offaly

· Community Nursing Unit, Birr, Co Offaly

· Cluain Lir, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

· St Vincents/Heartlands, Athlone, Co Westmeath

· St Joseph’s CNU, Longford

The person appointed to the post will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to client care, ensuring the promotion of an integrated service. The appointed person will work across care groups to support quality, patient focused care for Older People. Day Care services are Nurse led care services across the Midlands
