The Physiotherapy Manager is accountable and responsible for providing clinical governance and assurance regarding professional practice, quality and standards for the Physiotherapy practices and services in Dublin South City covering 3 Health Care Networks, An Integrated Older persons Team, a Chronic disease team and community units . The physiotherapy Manager will have a line of supervision to the physio therapists in CHNs, Chronic Disease, Integrated older Persons. They will provide a structured programme of clinical governance and assurance regarding professional practice, quality and standards. Working in collaboration with the CHN Managers the Physiotherapy Manager will ensure prioritisation and caseload of physiotherapists is in line with best practice and within the skills of the therapists.
The Physiotherapy manager is also responsible for the overall development of their discipline and It’s service across their area of responsibility identifying gaps and prioritising services as required in consultation with the GM and CHN Manager where appropriate.
The Physiotherapy Manager is key to the development of integrated services and supporting the clinicians to work as part of an integrated team. The Physiotherapy manager may have operational and clinical responsibility for some clinical staff for example the Senior Physiotherapist in the community Nursing Units.
It is acknowledged that the roles of CHN/ECCN Manager and Therapy Manager are distinctive in nature. It is vital that the respective roles are collaborative in nature while being clear about their respective functions so that there is no ambiguity, duplication of purpose or confusion of responsibilities. It is also acknowledge that we are working through the restructuring to the Regional Health Authority. Dublin South City sits within the Dublin South City/Dublin West Integrated Health Area (IHA)
