Location of Post

There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available in the Safeguarding and Protection Team for the Dublin South Kildare West Wicklow area of Dublin Midlands health region.

The post holder will be assigned to Armagh Road Primary Care Centre Dublin however an alternative Kildare location within Hawthorn House, Naas is subject to negotiation. Post holders will be required to travel throughout the Dublin South Kildare West Wicklow region to fulfil their duties. Post holders will be eligible to apply for blended working under the HSE Blended Working Policy.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Dublin and Midlands from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Details of Service

Adult Safeguarding and Protection Team Dublin South Kildare West Wicklow. Please see attached job description.

The Adult Safeguarding and Protection team provides a safeguarding service to individuals and organisations in accordance with the “Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse National Policy and Procedures” 2014. This includes:

· Providing oversight of safeguarding concerns of abuse within organisations funded by the HSE Social Care Division for older people and persons with disabilities. This includes the online assessment of Preliminary Screening Forms and Formal Safeguarding Plans via the Online System for Adult Safeguarding (OSAS).

· Participate in the delivery of a Monday-Friday safeguarding duty service via telephone and email providing safeguarding support, advice and guidance to members of the public and professionals.

· Providing a direct social work service and managing complex safeguarding cases in the community.

· Contributing to the delivery of safeguarding awareness training and participating in information and awareness raising events.

Purpose of the Post

The post holder will be required to work both as a member of a team and at times alone, in an oversight capacity with service setting providers; and alongside community network staff, mental health and acute colleagues in an advice and consultation role. They will also hold a caseload of complex community safeguarding cases short-term, within a defined geographic / network area.

The post holder will deliver the HSE’s Social Care Division’s commitment to promoting the protection, welfare and safeguarding of vulnerable persons from abuse under the current policy.

The post holder, under the management and leadership of the Principal Social Worker, will be required to work with HSE colleagues and Section 38 and Section 39 agencies to ensure that the national policy for Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse is implemented and adhered to in a consistent manner within the region.
