Domestic Supervisor Mental Health
Details of Service
Mental Health Services are provided at numerous locations throughout Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan and South Donegal.
The team structure is Support Services Supervisor and Support Staff.
The West and North West region provides acute and specialist hospital and community services to the West and Northwest of Ireland – counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and adjoining counties.
The region comprises of 7 hospitals across 8 sites:
- Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH)
- Mayo University Hospital (MUH)
- Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH)
- Roscommon University Hospital (RUH)
- Sligo University Hospital (SUH) incorporating Our Lady’s Hospital Manorhamilton (OLHM)
- Galway University Hospitals (GUH) incorporating University Hospital Galway (UHG) and Merlin Park University Hospital.
The region’s Academic Partner is NUI Galway.
The region covers one third of the land mass of Ireland, it provides health care to a population of 830,000, employs over 20,000 staff

Purpose of the Post
· To ensure a highest standard of hygiene and support services are maintained in Sligo Leitrim Mental Health areas in line with regulations.
· To contribute to the health care of patients by monitoring food safety and training to maintain compliant practice, which will prevent the spread of infection and promote comfort and safety to patients, staff and visitors. The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree.
· To support the leadership, management and supervision of Household staff working across departments.
· To monitor the compliance of meeting standards and to ensure all staff have completed mandatory training.
· To implement improvement plans as appropriate.
To support the implementation and monitoring of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Hygiene Standards and contribute to the maintenance of Mental Health Commission standards.
