Location of the Post:
HSE Dublin & South East/Bhaile Átha Cliath agus an Oirdheisceart
(Dublin South & Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford & Wexford)
There is currently one whole-time permanent vacancy available in the HSE Dublin & South East Region in Dental Department, St Dympna's Hospital, Carlow and Tullow Health Centre, Co. Carlow.
All applicants will be given the opportunity, at the time of application, to indicate an IHA preference area.

- HSE Waterford Wexford
- HSE Dublin South and Wicklow
Candidates successful at interview will be placed on the regional panel in order of merit.
Where vacancies arise, posts will be expressed to the panel as follows:
Vacancies will initially be expressed to candidates who have selected the IHA preference area in which the vacancy arises, in order of merit.
Where a vacancy remains unfilled, an expression of interest will then be issued to the full regional panel, in order of merit, regardless of IHA preference.
Please note that the preference area cannot be changed once the application has been submitted.
A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Dental Surgeon, General from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled for RHA Dublin & South East.
Please note that any existing panels in place for Dental Surgeon, General for the 3 IHA Regions will take precedence over the supplementary panel created through this campaign for any future posts that arise in these Counties.
Purpose of the Post:
The purpose of the post is to advance the aim of the Public Dental Service to improve the Oral Health of the population, including provision of clinical dental services to eligible patients.
Eligiblity Criteria:
Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
(a) Hold a Degree, Licence or Diploma in Dental Surgery / Dental Science;
And
(b) Be registered in the Register of Dentists for Ireland or be entitled to be so registered;
And
(c) Have had, since becoming eligible under paragraph (a) above, at least one year’s satisfactory experience in the practice of dentistry;
And
(d) Possess a high standard of professional knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
1.Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
(a) Hold a Degree, Licence or Diploma in Dental Surgery / Dental Science;
And
(b) Be registered in the Register of Dentists for Ireland or be entitled to be so registered;
And
(c) Have had, since becoming eligible under paragraph (a) above, at least one year’s satisfactory experience in the practice of dentistry;
And
(d) Possess a high standard of professional knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
2.Age
Age restriction shall only apply to candidates where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
3.Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4.Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Please note that appointment to and continuation in posts that require statutory registration is dependent upon the post holder maintaining annual registration in the relevant division of the register maintained by: The Medical Council of Ireland or the Irish Dental Council.
