Early Years Educator

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Educators (AIM Support) to join our dynamic team in Cork. We currently have three vacancies available: one 30-hour position and two 15-hour positions. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children with visual impairments and additional needs, supporting their development in an inclusive and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised qualification in Early Years Education (minimum QQI Level 5) and demonstrate a passion for delivering high-quality, child-centred learning experiences. Experience working with children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities is desirable; however, comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children with visual impairments in a variety of settings, including individual, small-group, and classroom-based environments.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes each child's independence, confidence, and overall development.

Individualised Support

  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs and goals of each child.
  • Monitor and assess children's progress, adapting teaching approaches and interventions as required.

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Work closely with parents, guardians, multidisciplinary professionals, and colleagues to support the holistic development and wellbeing of each child.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning and decision-making.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to children's learning, development, and progress.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive reports and contribute to review meetings as required.

Professional Development

  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education, visual impairment, and inclusive practice.
  • Participate in training opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education, Montessori Education, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Experience working in an Early Years setting is essential.
  • Experience supporting children with visual impairments, additional needs, or special educational needs is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using relevant software applications.
  • A compassionate, flexible, and child-centred approach to practice.

Other Requirements

  • Eligible to work in Ireland
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks and Garda Vetting
  • Available to interview in person
