Early Years Supervisor
Job Purpose
The role of the Early Years Supervisor is to deliver quality early years services to support the delivery of the Sure Start programme within Lisburn Sure Start. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the early years services and ensuring that a welcoming, safe, and child-centred environment is created.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the induction of all Early Years Assistant staff within the Lisburn Sure Start project alongside the Early Years Coordinator.
- Line manage and supervise Early Years Assistant staff.
- Supervise student placements and volunteers within the early years programmes of Lisburn Sure Start.
- Implement a child-centred and welcoming environment at all Sure Start programmes and activities.
- Ensure a safe, stimulating, and varied programme of play and learning opportunities is provided for children aged 0–3 years, suitable to each child's age and stage of development.
- Ensure planning meets children's individual needs, taking into account their abilities, interests, language, and cultural backgrounds, and review these as necessary. Ensure ongoing creative evaluation of all programmes.
- Organise indoor and outdoor environments to ensure resources and equipment are available, compliant, and appropriate to meet the needs of individual children before each programme commences.
- Develop and deliver crèches and programmes outlined in the Lisburn Sure Start yearly business plan, providing a purposeful and stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors.
- Establish effective and empowering relationships with parents, enabling them to support their children's maximum potential. Develop and deliver programmes that encourage parents to play alongside their children and provide developmentally appropriate play and learning opportunities.
- Work with parents and their children within the home environment to extend services to families, offering support on play, interaction, and sensory development.
- Provide support for children's emotional and social needs by promoting positive behaviour through role modelling and professional practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all policies and procedures affecting children and ensure these are communicated and reviewed during supervision with all early years staff.
- Open, maintain, and accurately record information as required by the role, ensuring compliance with good record management and information systems.
- Participate in local events to promote the work of Lisburn Sure Start and contribute to the development and preparation of promotional materials.
- Promote the importance of early learning, play, and development for children aged 0–3 years across the Lisburn Sure Start area.
General
- Prepare for and participate in supervision sessions.
- Prepare for and participate in team meetings and work effectively as part of a team.
- Keep clear, concise, and factual records.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities
All employees, regardless of role or level of seniority within Bryson Pathways, are expected to:
- Participate in all relevant training when required.
- Prepare for and participate in Annual Performance Reviews.
- Observe all relevant Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Carry out any other relevant tasks that may be required from time to time.
- Promote and comply with Bryson Pathways policies on diversity and equality in both service delivery and the treatment of others.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times, releasing confidential information obtained during employment only to those acting in an official capacity and in accordance with the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
- Comply with Bryson Pathways protocols regarding the appropriate use of telephone, email, and internet facilities.
- Adhere to the principles of risk management in relation to individual and corporate responsibilities.
- Observe and follow all Bryson Pathways policies and procedures.
- Participate in all Bryson Pathways quality initiatives.
- Assist with Bryson Pathways fundraising activities when required.
