EH&S Manager

We are now seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our Drogheda manufacturing site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in driving our safety-first culture, supporting environmental compliance, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives that positively impact our people, operations and sustainability ambitions.

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will partner with site leadership and wider EHS teams to create and maintain a world-class EHS environment where everyone goes home safe every day.

What you'll be responsible for

Leadership & Culture

  • Champion a proactive, values-led safety culture across the site.
  • Provide visible leadership and support to managers, supervisors and employees. 
  • Drive engagement programmes that promote safe behaviours, workforce involvement and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and influence EHS performance through collaboration with site leadership teams.

Environmental, Health & Safety Management

  • Develop and implement the site's EHS strategy, aligned with Tirlán's wider business and sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain robust EHS management systems and ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and company requirements.
  • Lead site risk assessment programmes and support the implementation of effective risk reduction measures.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of any new requirements.
  • Actively contribute to the wider Environmental, Health and Safety network by fostering collaboration, sharing lessons learned, and promoting continuous improvement.

Compliance & Governance

  • Manage all environmental licence obligations and reporting requirements.
  • Act as the primary site contact for external regulatory bodies and stakeholders, including the EPA, HSA, Irish Water, local authorities and insurers.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring successful outcomes and continuous compliance.
  • Lead and maintain certification requirements, including ISO 14001 and other relevant management systems.
  • Coordinate and deliver regular Environmental, Health and Safety performance reporting to internal stakeholders, including the Head of EHS, providing clear insights to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive site EHS performance through data, KPIs and targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop and oversee site EHS training and competency programmes.
  • Coordinate occupational health, wellbeing and sustainability initiatives across the site.
  • Manage waste, recycling and environmental performance programmes.
  • Prepare and submit the site's Annual Environmental Report (AER).
  • Coordinate and maintain EHS systems to support compliance, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

Qualifications

  • Third-level qualification in Environmental Management, Health & Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, Food Science or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an Environmental, Health & Safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within the food, dairy, pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing sectors is desirable.
  • Previous leadership or people management experience would be advantageous.

  • Proven experience delivering EHS improvements within a continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and health & safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Results-focused with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment.
