TERMS: 173 hours per month, flexibility is required due to the nature of the role to include working evenings, weekends and bank holidays

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The O2 Belfast, Northern Ireland’s premier indoor sports and entertainment venue, is seeking to recruit a new member of its Event Technical Team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the setup and delivery of events across the O2 Belfast and the wider Odyssey site, ensuring that all electrical systems and services are maintained to the highest standards. With a primary focus on facilitating world-class events, duties will include the installation, maintenance, testing, and fault-finding of electrical power supplies, as well as the provision and setup of temporary electrical services for events. The post-holder will also assist with the maintenance and support of site-wide facilities and infrastructure across the Odyssey site as required. All work must be carried out in accordance with current IEE Regulations and British Standards. The successful candidate will be committed to providing a safe, reliable, and responsive electrical service that supports event setup, event delivery, venue requirements, and the needs of internal and external customers across the wider site.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Fully qualified Electrician (e.g. NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent).
  • Current BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations qualification (18th Edition).
  • Proven experience in fault-finding, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and installations within industrial and/or commercial buildings
  • Understanding of electrical compliance requirements, health and safety legislation, and risk assessments.
  • Competent in reading electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work at height and use access equipment safely.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and overnight shifts.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with event production teams, contractors, and venue staff.
  • Basic Computer Skills

DESIRABLE CRITERIA
  • Inspection and Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).
  • Experience in the testing and maintenance of relay-based control systems, emergency lighting systems, central battery systems, and emergency/backup power installations within commercial or public environments.
  • Previous experience working in an arena, theatre, concert venue, exhibition centre, or live events environment.
  • Experience with show power systems, stage power distribution, and entertainment lighting infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of entertainment industry standards and regulations.
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
  • Experience supervising contractors and event build teams.
  • Understanding of lighting, audio, video, and rigging power requirements.
  • Experience with temporary event power distribution and event infrastructure.
