Electronic Health Record (EHR) Training Lead Grade VII
Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is seeking an experienced and motivated EHR Training Lead to play a pivotal role in the implementation of our new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, delivered in partnership with Epic Systems.
As part of the EHR Training Team, you will drive the adoption of innovative digital solutions and support CHI’s transition to Ireland’s first fully digitalised hospital
The Role:
CHI will work with Epic Systems, a software company who are a world leader in this technology, to implement an electronic health record (EHR) system across the organisation, which will go live at the same time the new hospital opens – as Ireland’s first fully digitalised hospital.
The ICT programme for the New Children’s Hospital, including outpatient and urgent care centres, comprises of several work streams including:
- EHR & Clinical ICT Systems: Deploying the Epic Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) and supporting systems
- Corporate & Non-Clinical ICT: Implementation of a Facilities Management and Catering System, plus supporting Financial, Human Resources and Facilities Management Systems upgrades / integration / implementation
- Infrastructure: Deployment of technology, including end user devices, to support the above work streams in addition to technology solutions which enhance workflow or the patient experience
- Programme Support & Business Engagement: Managing an integrated ICT & EHR programme plan and designing and delivering organisational readiness activities including change, training and benefits management
This role is a core part of the EHR Training Team, who will aim to drive adoption of new technology and innovative ways of working as CHI transitions to a Digital Hospital. This role will manage the EHR Training across the above workstreams both in terms of training development and systems training. It will require working closely with the central Learning and Development and Commissioning teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Implementing the EHR Training Strategy
- Managing the EHR Principal Trainer and Classroom Trainer teams
- Delivering and embedding learning & training strategies to support the current programme of change, integration, and transitioning.
- Supporting CHI with the design and delivery of learning modules, programmes and initiatives in multiple formats.
- Design and deliver a comprehensive post-live and BAU training strategy
Essential Criteria
- Relevant 3rd level degree/post-graduate qualification plus at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant Learning & Development or related discipline role, ideally in healthcare or large organisational transformation project.
or
- 6 + years’ experience in a relevant/similar role, ideally in an eHealth project and/or experience in delivering a large-scale multidisciplinary training programme.
Desirable Criteria (any relevant)
- Track record in delivering successful training projects and supporting major organisational readiness or transformation programmes.
- Healthcare experience in acute care or similar setting.
- Experience supporting change management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, SharePoint, Teams), particularly for managing training documentation.
- Professional Project / Programme Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE 2, MSP).
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills with full capability to write high-quality materials, position statements, as well as public speaking and presentation skills.
