The Role: 

The Asset Operations function forms the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing the majority of operational expenditure. The Asset Operations function has responsibility for operational and maintenance strategy, policies, planning and standard operating procedures for Water and Wastewater operations both nationally and regionally, ensuring that value for money and customer service is delivered. 

The Operations Support Team has responsibility for providing and managing effective business infrastructure and processes at a national level to support operational activities at site level. The Head of Operations Support will ensure that robust end-to-end work planning and workflow systems are consistently implemented across the Asset Operations functions, with efficient operational linkages right across all of the corporate functions of Uisce Éireann. The role-holder will also have responsibility for coordination of Innovation, Change and Improvement across the Asset Operations functions, working in coordination with Uisce Éireann Transformation, Continuous Improvement and Innovation Teams and Functions.

Reporting to the Energy Management Senior Manager, the Energy Monitoring Manager will be responsible for management of energy contracts, utility connections, energy data including strategic direction for identifying improvement opportunities and prioritising initiatives for energy management. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for maintaining ‘single source of the truth’ on performance indicators, managing data integrity and quality through robust data governance and stakeholder management, delivering a suite of reports that is flexible and will facilitate effective performance management and analysis.

  • Responsible for monitoring energy performance benchmarks against pre-defined performance standards, and ongoing process optimisation targets.

  • Responsible for delivering against SEAI performance indicators.

  • Responsible for developing processes, systems and tools to ensure energy data collection, billing data, metering data and feedback is provided at a plant and operator level.

  • Developing energy management systems in line with ISO 50001 and asset management systems through providing advice and support to help establish, operate and maintain the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance and energy efficiency.

  • Responsible for monitoring energy in line with sustainability commitments and supporting integrated management system and reporting requirements.

  • Lead the effective contract management of the energy contracts supporting Uisce Éireann assets 

  • Lead Uisce Eireann’s response to queries received from ESB Networks, e.g. arranging meter acc, storm response management

  • Responsible for developing strategies relating to Demand Side Units (DSU) 

  • Responsible for monitoring Uisce Éireann energy efficiency and performance targets against KPIs at both an operational (repair, maintenance and schedule), and capital investment level.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.

  • Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards. 

  • Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.

  • Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team.

  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification or accreditation e.g. Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Business Management or related area is desirable or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience is required. Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, proactive development, motivation and engagement of staff.
  • Experience managing a large team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills.
  • We work better together - Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
  • Experience of supporting policies, systems and controls and driving the implementation of progressive policies.
  • We aim high- You will have a proven track record in leadership, change & transformation experience ideally in a similar utility, regulated industry or multi stakeholder environment.
  • We do the right thing- Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity generating effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
