About the role

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join the team at our Newmarket Cheese Production facility. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated engineering manager who is passionate about engineering excellence, team development and keen to uphold a 'safety first, quality always' culture.

This is a permanent, full-time position where you'll cover the site as Duty Manager 1 in 5 weekends.

What will I be doing?

As the Engineering Manager you will have responsibility for:

  • Demonstrating leadership in health & safety. Ensures all engineering and maintenance activities on site comply with national & Kerry Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards and legal requirements.
  • Leading a high performing engineering team through effective leadership, coaching, people management, development and succession plans. 
  • Responsible for all engineering activities and CAPEX projects at the site including capital planning, identifying projects, process optimization, energy management.
  • Accountable for ensuring that an effective & comprehensive preventative maintenance programme is in place which can delivered within agreed timescales and budget
  • Monitor engineering & maintenance performance against defined KPI’s and looking for improvement opportunities using Lean an CI tools and techniques.
  • Managing the engineering and maintenance budget, negotiating vendor contracts
  • Oversee spare parts holding guidance/policy to ensure spares are available at short notice to support 24/7 production
  • Utilize KAMS (Kerry Asset Maintenance System) processes and tools
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of industry trends and new technology innovation in Maintenance and Reliability to enhance Kerry manufacturing and operational capabilities

What do experience and qualifications will you need?

To be successful in this role we are looking for a positive can-do attitude as well as your qualifications and previous experience as Engineering Manager. The ideal candidate will ideally have the following:

  • Relevant Engineering Qualification
  • Significant experience in a similar Engineering & Maintenance Management / Leadership position
  • Manufacturing industry experience is essential. Experience within food manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Varied engineering experience including maintenance, managing capex projects, process control & automation, energy management, waste water etc.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to build solid working relationships within the team and with other functions
  • Sound problem solving skills combined with experience of process improvement and CI / Lean tools.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, SAP
  • Strong knowledge of Health, safety and environmental regulation.
  • Self starter capable of working with little direction and a flexible approach.
