Enterprise Risk Specialist - Enterprise Risk

Location/Office Policy: Hybrid/Molesworth Street, Dublin 2

3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday)

  • Are you bored with reading long policy documents that don’t actually tell you what you are supposed to do?
  • Or reports to senior people that are more like Agatha Christie novels, only revealing the proposed solution at the end of the paper?

Then join our team to play your part in helping Risk to write clearer, sharper documents which have a real impact and save everybody’s time.

What is the Role:

The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

We are recruiting for a talented risk specialist to help support and execute our growing risk management agenda. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team that in a measurable way can contribute significantly to the achievement of Enterprise Risk’s agenda, and that of the wider Risk Function.

The role is positioned within the Risk Training & Governance Team within Enterprise Risk, which, alongside risk education and ensuring appropriate risk governance, is responsible for ensuring that AIB’s risk framework and policy architecture is robust.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collating and overseeing highly sensitive papers ahead of Risk governance/submission to senior Executive and Board committees;
  • Collaborating with the Risk Senior Management Team (SMT), the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Corporate Governance to ensure timely delivery of quality risk governance papers;
  • Collating and overseeing the relevant Risk governance papers for applicable subsidiaries;
  • Ensuring AIB Group has an effective Risk Policy Governance Framework (PGF) covering Risk frameworks and policies and ensuring the appropriate structure and controls are present;
  • Maintaining the Risk Management Framework (RMF) for the Group and updating the associated mandatory iLearn;
  • Supporting other activities of the Risk Training & Governance Team to provide support and cover, such as the Third-party Management (TPM) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) processes and reports; and
  • Assisting in Risk Training initiatives such as Risk in Conversation and the Risk Academy.

What you Will Bring

  • Experience in financial services (min 3 years), ideally in a Bank Risk function;
  • An understanding of Risk Management Principles and best practice in governance and in policy and framework development;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (underpinned by strong Microsoft Office skills);
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team, with attention to detail, completing tasks to a high standard within agreed deadlines.
  • Why Work for AIB?:
