The post holder will function as part of the PHA’s health protection service and will support the objectives of the PHAs programme of work in support of national and local government to reduce the health effects of environmental hazards.

The post holder will play a key role in the delivery of the PHA Health Protection Service, and will work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising of Consultant in Health Protection / Surveillance, Infection Control Team and Health Protection Nurses concerned with the impact of the physical environment on the health of the people of Northern Ireland. The post holder will work collaboratively with a range of key external stakeholders including Health & Social Care Trusts, local Councils, Department for Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA NI), and the Department of Health NI.

Working as part of the PHA health protection service, the post holder will oversee aspects of information and data management to support surveillance and epidemiological investigations including data in relation to extreme events, ongoing chronic exposure to chemical and environmental hazards, and the public health impacts of climate change. They will provide expert advice on data collection, storage, use and information governance and quality.
