Environmental Health Officer

The post holder will be responsible for implementing Environmental Health Legislation on behalf of Ards and North Down Borough Council, as required by the section’s management team.

The post holder will also be required to deal directly with various statutory and non-statutory organisations and members of the general public in relation to a wide variety of Environmental Health Issues.


Contracts available:
  • x2 Permanent Full-Time Posts (36 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
  • x2 Temporary Full-Time posts until 31 March 2026, with possible extensions
In the following sections with the Environmental Health Service (please note posts can be placed anywhere within the service):
  • Food Control & Consumer Protection
  • Public Health & Housing
  • Health and Safety, Noise and Petroleum Licensing
Please Note:
  • Salary PO2, SCP 30 to 33 (£40,777 - £44,075 pa)
  • Initially based in Church Street Office Newtownards, however, will be required to work anywhere throughout the borough.
  • A valid driving licence with access to a form of transport that will allow fulfilment of the duties of the post or have access to a suitable form of transport which will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post*
  • A reserve list may be maintained for this recruitment for one year.
