Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Officer will:
• Maintain, review, and update all Environmental Documentation
o Policies & procedures
o Register of Environmental Aspects
o Environmental Plan Incorporating Policy, Framework & Implementation.
• Monitor project operations to ensure adherence to EPA licenses, Waste Collection Permits (WCP), and local authority regulations.
• Interface with local and national regulatory authorities in relation to all environmental matters pertaining to site activities
• Drive projects to actively promote a culture of environmental awareness excellence and continuous improvement
• Analyse and report environmental performance to management, promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues
• Preparing reports for the company, environmental agencies, and government bodies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with Irish, European Legislation.
• Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy
o Conduct a waste and energy audit on both the office and the sites.
o Waste Management Compliance - ensure cradle to grave traceability
• Set environmental goals in line with ISO14001 for continuous improvement:
o Waste Management from Office and sites - reduction of waste production and increase in reuse, segregation, and recycling
• Environmental audit of all projects - housekeeping and waste management - materials etc.
• Attend Client Meetings
• Coordinate Annual Review
• Coordinate & facilitate ISO audits
Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: A relevant degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Typically 2+ years of experience in the environmental sector, with a strong focus on civil engineering, drainage, or utility (water, electricity, gas) projects.
Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO 14001, environmental management plans (EMPs), and local environmental laws.
Soft Skills: Ability to work under pressure, manage strict deadlines, and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Other Requirements: A full, clean driver's license is essential to travel between various project sites
