Exercise Class Instructor
JOB PURPOSE: Committing to the one-team ethos, you will be flexible and collaborative and you will actively support all colleagues and other activities necessary to deliver the service objectives. As an Exercise Class Instructor you will plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate exercise/fitness classes.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and prepare classes that meet the needs of customers.
Deliver high quality and enjoyable classes.
Deliver variety and innovation within classes to maintain interest and motivation of customers.
Ensure that the health and safety of class participants is managed, including adhering to the required induction process and appropriate record keeping.
Carry out and record equipment checks and risk assessments, ensuring equipment and area are safe to use and report defects as appropriate.
Liaise with colleagues and continually promote Council fitness activities, classes and products.
Keep up-to-date with fitness industry trends and changes and maintain CPD.
Promote and/or sell all products and activities within the Centre and within the Leisure Services portfolio.
Remain fully conversant with all emergency procedures and take part in emergency situations, providing emergency care as required.
Be flexible and collaborative and actively support all colleagues and other activities or processes which impact on the performance of the Centre.
Qualifications and training
At least one basic qualification and the appropriate module if required from the qualifications listed in Appendix A.
Experience
One year’s experience in each of the following: ▪ Working directly with the public within a customer-facing environment. ▪ Maintaining accurate records. ▪ Completing facility or equipment checks.

Working Arrangements/Flexibility
Various hours. The post holder will be required to work outside normal hours including public holidays, evenings, and weekends to facilitate the needs of the Service.
