Facilities Supervisor
The Gallery wishes to recruit a Facilities Supervisor to coordinate the frontline facilities team and to ensure operational requirements are delivered to a high standard.
Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager (or nominated deputy), the Facilities Supervisor will:
- Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance and support of buildings, and facilities systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating maintenance processes and suggesting improvements.
- Schedule and supervise preventative maintenance programmes.
- Project management of repairs, small renovations, and ensure compliance with established service and quality standards.
- Respond to facility-related emergencies and vital building maintenance issues.
- Liaise between management, staff, contactors, and suppliers through effective communications.
- Liaise between management, helpdesk services, staff, contactors, and suppliers through effective communications.
- Ensure that all facilities activities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with Front of House, Health & Safety, Events IT and Security Teams, Helpdesk, Suppliers and Contractors.
- Supervise maintenance team and conduct performance evaluations, draft of systems procedures and provide training.
- Proficiency in Software Applications usage.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Facilities Supervisor or similar role, with a strong understanding of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems.
- Strong project management with maintenance analytical organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing software application for planned preventative maintenance processes and schedules.
- Proven record of managing repairs, small renovations, and ensure compliance with regulations
- Management of a facility-related emergency or vital building maintenance issue.
- Proven record of strong relationship-building skills with Front of House Staff, Events and IT Teams, Helpdesk, Service Providers and Contractors.
- Demonstrate health and safety knowledge for facilities related activities.
- Proven record of strong relationship-building skills with multi-discipline teams.
- Supervise maintenance team and conduct performance evaluations, draft of systems procedures and provide training.
- Ability to draft and update maintenance systems procedures and implement staff training.
- Knowledge and experience with Software Applications.
Desirable
- Qualification in facilities management or a related field.
- Certification in Health and Safety management or related areas.
- Previous OPW experience / engagement
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in facilities management.

Citizenship Requirements
Eligible candidates must be:
1. A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway; or
2. A citizen of the United Kingdom (UK); or
3. A citizen of Switzerland, pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons; or
4. A non-EEA citizen who has a Stamp 4 permission or a Stamp 5 permission.
Please note: A 50 TEU permission, which serves as a replacement for Stamp 4EUFAM after Brexit, is considered equivalent to Stamp 4.
To qualify candidates must be eligible by the date of any job offer.
Known Consignor status:
The Facilities Supervisor will be required to be Air Cargo security trained. In accordance, a pre-employment check is carried out on prospective new staff covering the preceding 5 years. This pre-employment check involves examination of any unexplained gaps of more than 28 days. For all new staff, written confirmation shall be obtained from employers or other sources capable of verifying the information provided by the person for the purpose of the background check. No prospective employee who is required to undergo Air Cargo security training will be offered a position unless any gap of 28 days or more has been satisfactorily accounted for.

Grade and Salary:
The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Tier 1 Band 1 pay scale €1,720.97 gross per fortnight as per the 1 February2026 pay adjustments. The salary scale for this position is as follows:
€1,720.97 €1,808.39 €1,886.05 €1,912.65 €1,954.43 €1,984.32 €2,017.71 €2,051.63 €2,085.70 €2,142.89 €2,213.61
- The starting salary will be at the first point on the scale, €1,720.97 gross per fortnight, or on a higher point of the scale, as appropriate to the successful candidate, if appointed from an existing public sector role (in accordance with Circular 08/2019).
- Candidates should note the National Gallery of Ireland complies with Department of Public Expenditure and Reform regulations and guidelines on Public Service pay and conditions of employment.
Annual Leave:The successful candidate will be entitled to 24 days of annual leave pro rata
Superannuation: The successful candidate will be placed on the public sector pension scheme.
Benefits: The Gallery provides staff the opportunity to participate in the tax saver and cycle to work schemes.
Duration: Permanent
Working hours: Full time - 35 hours per week (net of breaks) onsite. The Employee’s normal working pattern will be based on a five days on, two days off arrangement within each seven day period (“5 over 7”). However, this working pattern may change.
Gallery work environment:The Facilities Supervisor is required to work predominately indoors. Nonetheless, on occasion outdoor and offsite work is required.
