SOUTH WEST WEXFORD FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE is currently seeking to appoint a FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

HOURS PER WEEK: 35 HOURS PER WEEK

SALARY: €34,326 - €36,182

ANNUAL LEAVE: 20 DAYS PER YEAR

CONTRACT: Initial 12 month fixed contract

SWWFRC are looking for a Family Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate must be fun loving, patient and enthusiastic. Above all, they must love working with families and young people. With a specific focus on targeted families, individuals, new communities and young people. SWWFRC is a rural community managed centre and works from the principles and practices of Community Development. It has an anti-poverty and equality focus and works with. the community in our catchment area who experience poverty, injustice and exclusion.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 3 year’s experience in a similar role and a 3 rd level qualification in Family Support, Community Development or Social Care
  • A good understanding in Family Support work in a community-based setting through. early intervention and prevention strategies.
  • An understanding and knowledge of supporting parents and children through programmes and activities.
  • Excellent Interpersonal, Communication, Leadership and Facilitation skills
  • Experience of Networking and liaising with Voluntary, Community and Statutory Agencies
  • Excellent IT, Social Media and Report Writing Skills
  • Ability and initiative to work on their own and as part of a team.
  • Training in Child Protection and knowledge of Meitheal would be an advantage.
  • Experience of facilitating an evidence-based parenting/youth/ counselling programme would be an advantage.
  • To be self motivated and have an ability to motivate others
  • Have empathy , approachability and an ability to relate to families and young people

Desirable:

Experience and hands on management of funding applications and systems related to community based funding streams and the financial aspects of running community services.
