The objective of this role is the personnel and professional management of the Finance, Accounts and Tax departments.

The Finance, Accounts and Tax Director for Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer, Board Director of Lidl Ireland GmbH and Northern Ireland Ltd. 

What you'll do

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Manage employees based on company principles and mission statement.
  • Encourage professional and personal employee development.
  • Create organizational conditions for efficient and punctual objective attainment.
  • Agree on objectives and delegate tasks with room for negotiation.
  • Ensure a positive atmosphere and efficient collaboration.
  • Hold regular employee and objective-setting discussions.
  • Handle operational personnel matters (recruitment, employment contracts, disciplinary measures).
  • Ensure compliance with internal directives and standards.
  • Plan and control resources, personnel, and costs.
  • Identify and encourage potential through individual development measures.

Cross-departmental activities

  • Prepare and control annual/quarterly financial statements, balance sheets and tax filings according to national commercial and tax law. 
  • Manage local audits and legal disclosure requirements.
  • Serve as primary contact for authorities, banks, auditors, and consultants.
  • Provide technical management for regional distribution center administration.
  • Define national and international requirements for headquarters and regional offices.
  • Ensure Accounting processes and documentation comply with ARIS/LOS standards.
  • Define, implement, and document internal control systems (ICS).
  • Analyze departmental reports and track resulting measures.
  • Coordinate and approve technical system tests and project releases.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for projects within the field of activity.
  • Ensure tax and commercial law compliance for system changes and migrations.
  • Identify and initiate process optimizations and innovations.

Responsibility in the area of Cost Accounting

  • Cost accounting verification.
  • Fixed asset accounting.
  • Billing of non-merchandise including intercompany billing based on existing agency contracts.
  • Current account accounting including maintenance of business partner master data.
  • Other ongoing accounting.

Responsibility in the area of Goods Accounting

  • Invoice verification verification of merchandise.
  • Settlement of refunds and returns.
  • Stock valuation of merchandise.
  • Other ongoing goods accounting.

Responsibility in the area of Finance

  • Cash management and efficient payment processing.
  • Means of payment and money disposal
  • Financing incl. Administration
  • Financial reporting and planning

Responsibility in the area of Taxes

  • Compliance with tax obligations and utilization of rights in all sub-disciplines (indirect taxes, direct taxes, transfer prices)
  • Tax responsibility when introducing new business processes
  • Ensure compliance with tax requirements for system implementations or changes
  • Contact person for authorities in tax matters

What you'll need

  • A qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant.
  • Experience in leading and managing team performance.
  • Month end industry experience with strong technical accounting skills.
  • Commercial and operational acumen.
  • Strong people management and development experience
  • German language skills preferable
  • Full driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel to meetings abroad
