Overview of Role

The Finance Administrator (Executive Officer Grade) will work within the Finance Team in Corporate Services and is a key role within the Finance Team in Corporate Services, working on key projects within the team, supporting the effective financial management of the organisation’s financial operations. The role contributes to accurate financial reporting, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and supports the wider organisation in achieving its strategic objectives.

Background to Requirement

BIM is the Irish State agency responsible for developing the Irish seafood industry. It supports the Irish seafood industry and communities in ensuring that aquatic and maritime resources are used sustainably. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner to both internal and external stakeholders. They will also demonstrate the ability to use their own initiative and possess strong time management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Invoice Processing: Receive, sort, code, and enter supplier invoices, matching them to purchase orders (POs) and Goods receipts. Liaise with budget owners on rejected or query invoices.

Payment Management: Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments for approved invoices.

Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor statements and accounts, investigating and resolving aged or outstanding items

Revenue: Prepare and process Revenue returns to include system reconciliations.

Data entry and administrative support within the team.

Reporting & Analysis: Assist with month-end closing, generate payment reports, and provide data for financial analysis.

Audit Support: Prepare and provide necessary documentation for internal and external audits.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement ways to improve the efficiency and controls of the AP process.

Provide assistance and cover for other finance tasks as required.

Provide assistance to the wider finance team on various transactional tasks.

Other: To perform any other related duties as might reasonably be required and which may be assigned from time to time.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

Relevant clerical or administrative certificate/qualification.

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced, high volume accounts payable environment.

Excellent IT and administration skills and high level of attention to detail.

Consistently meet tight deadlines across a range of tasks while maintaining accuracy.

Strong communication skills and confidentiality essential.

Experience of Accounting Systems.

Experience in collaborating with technical staff.

Ability to work diplomatically in resolving issues with stakeholders.

Salary

Remuneration is in accordance with the Public Sector, Department of Finance approved Salary Scale for Executive Officer with a salary range €38,419 to €62,601 (as of 1 st February 2026) per annum pro-rated with time worked.

Appointment will be at the first point of the pay scale unless the candidate is currently employed within the public services.

You will become a member of the Single Public Service Pension Scheme if you are not currently a member of a public sector pension scheme (or have not been a member in the past six months). Salary and Pension Scheme are subject to public sector approved norms and take account of recent service in the public sector in line with relevant circulars and rules.
