FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR (Clerical Officer Grade III)

Permanent Part-Time (56 hours per fortnight)

Location: Finance Department Cork Services

A panel may be formed from this competition from which future full-time/part-time vacancies may be filled throughout our Services in Cork.

The Role:

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Finance Administrator will support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions. The role also provides reception cover as required and supports staff travel claims processing.

  • Each candidate for the appointment must possess:
  • Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
  • Obtained at least Grade D (or pass) in Higher or Ordinary level in five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education established Leaving Certificate Examination or Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme or Leaving Certificate Applied. OR
  • Pass an examination of at least equivalent standard OR
  • Satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skills
  • Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and administrative ability), for the proper discharge of the office.
  • Have 3 years post qualification experience of working in an administrative / office environment including a minimum of 1-year professional experience in Accounts Payable and / or Payroll processing.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Office (Excel and Word) and relevant financial systems.
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise tasks effectively and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, showing accountability and sound judgement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • An understanding and respect for the rights and needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • 2.Age

    The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.

    * Public Servants not affected by this legislation:

    Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.

    Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.

    3.Health

    Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

    4.Character:

    Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

    Salary Scale: €31,618 - €48,927 including 1 LSI pro-rataper annum (1/2/26 Consolidated Scales). Pro-rata if working part-time hours

    * Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date. Failure to do so will mean that any incremental credit due now will only be paid from date of submission of documents.
