Finance Assistant

The Opportunity

A vacancy has arisen for a Finance Assistant who has the energy, enthusiasm and drive to “make tomorrow happen” at Glanbia Business Services (GBS). This is a fixed term contract position for 12 months and will report to the Financial Accounting Team Lead.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative environment where there is a key focus on continuous improvement, while delivering high quality, reliable services to other divisions within Glanbia.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of Intercompany Reconciliations across the group
  • Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of cash records while escalating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of payment runs, taking responsibility for accuracy and compliance with internal controls while gaining exposure to the treasury processes.
  • Contribute to the management of direct credit control by monitoring outstanding receivables and supporting customer follow-ups.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of all tasks in line with the service level agreement
  • Developing relationships with the specific business units whose tasks you are completing
  • Collate and summarise operational and financial information from various sources within the Group for onward reporting and circulation to tight deadlines
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of reporting processes
  • Providing general accounting assistance in a dynamic shared services centre including reviewing and analysing detailed financial information
  • Maintain a strong set of financial controls ensuring that their area of responsibility is compliant with the group policy
  • Ad hoc work as required in the role 

Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field required
  • Suitable for recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record in a similar role; related experience in an FMCG business environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail; meticulous accuracy in financial data entry and record keeping is critical
  • Excellent data analytical and strong numerical skills.
  • Excellent communicator with experience in engaging with customers, colleagues, Senior Management and external service providers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships within finance and other functions.
  • Experience with SAP is desirable but not essential
