ROLE OVERVIEWThe ideal candidate will hold previous financial experience or a qualification in business, accounting or finance with an interest in progressing their career in a fast-paced and expanding environment. This role is both dynamic and demanding, requiring the candidate to quickly understand the intricacies of Screen Ireland's finance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the processing and administration of the agency’s accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and financial reporting, timely payments, compliance with internal financial controls, and complying with regulatory and best practice standards. Screen Ireland encourage professional growth and would provide financial assistance towards a professional accountancy qualification for the successful candidate. Collaborating closely with colleagues in the finance function, the successful candidate will support and play a key role in the administration of the unit.
FUNCTION OVERVIEWThe Finance team is responsible for the budgetary and financial management of the agency’s funds which includes provision of grant funding, value for money, compliance with financial procedures, strong corporate governance and the safeguarding of the agency’s assets to support the goals of Fís Éireann/ Screen Ireland. The total income for the agency is currently circa €43m, which provides for operational activities and is funded through government grants from the Department of Culture, Communication and Sport and other internally generated income.

It is anticipated that in order to have the required skills and competencies, the Executive Officer post will be at the First Point level.
REPORTING LINE(S)
This role will report directly to the Finance Manager. The role will work with internal stakeholders to ensure effective coordination, communication, and delivery of executive priorities. Reporting arrangements may be reviewed periodically to reflect organisational needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide high quality and efficient support to the Finance Team in the overall administration of:
- Support the creation of monthly management information through the provision of accurate information.
- Input data into databases and accounting software Sage 200, ensuring its accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of audit files for internal and external audits.
- Assist with day-to-day finance activities and handle ad hoc duties.
- Assist with the preparation of Department Drawdown Requests
- Complete monthly reconciliations including but not limited to bank, payables and receivables.
- Compile data regarding Screen Ireland’s carbon footprint.
- Support the administration of the purchase order system.
- Maintain general office filing systems.
- Adhere to Screen Ireland’s finance policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required by the business needs of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.
The postholders will contribute flexibly across the team, supporting colleagues with activities aligned to the Executive Officer grade. KEY REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL- Possess a minimum Level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major award or its equivalent in business, accounting, finance or a similar field.

- Excellent IT Skills including Word and Excel, Sharepoint, Microsoft Teams, financial management software.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES- Experience using Sage 200 Professional
- Proficiency in the Irish Language.
- Willingness to work towards professional accountancy qualification.
- This position is at the Executive Officer level and is remunerated at €38,419 per annum. This role will be filled in line with Public Pay Policy at the first point of this Salary Scale unless the successful candidate is appointed from an existing public sector role. Application of 1 February 2026 pay adjustments.
- This is a full-time, permanent position.
- The successful candidate will be required to sign the Screen Ireland Code of Conduct.
- The role will have a 6-month probation period.
- The person will report directly to the Finance Manager.
- The post will be based in Galway.
- Annual leave (excluding bank holidays) of 23 days.
- Start Date as soon as possible.
