Finance Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our team.As Finance Manager youwill lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial governance, accurate reporting, strong commercial support and effective financial controls are in place. You will partner closely with the Operations Director, Store Owner and Store Management teams to drive profitability, operational efficiency and sustainable business growth through data-driven decision making.

Relevant Skills/Experience:

  • 3+ years` experience in a senior finance role, ideally within retail, FMCG or a multi-site environment

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence operational and strategic decision making

  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to influence non-financial stakeholders

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams

  • Advanced Excel and financial systems experience

  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to manage a busy workload in a fast paced environment

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Experience in Musgrave/SuperValu/Centra systems is desirable

Main Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely period-end management accounts

  • Produce monthly/quarterly financial reports, KPI dashboards and variance analysis to support informed decision making

  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items

  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and financial planning processes

Financial Governance

  • Ensure internal financial controls are consistently applied and adhered to across all stores, maintaining compliance with company policies and statutory requirements

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks across the business through effective control processes

  • Develop and enhance financial policies, procedures and controls to safeguard company assets

  • Lead the year-end audit process and ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, Revenue and regulatory requirements

  • Manage and oversee the finance team and any third-party service providers, ensuring compliance with company policies, statutory requirements and agreed service levels

Store Finance Support

  • Oversee & support cash office teams at store level, ensuring robust cash management processes, timely reconciliations and compliance with company procedures

  • Conduct regular profitability reviews with stores, translating financial insights into clear actions that improve business performance

  • Work closely with store management teams to improve stock control, reduce shrinkage and maximise gross margin performance

  • Support stores in resolving financial queries, investigating variances and implementing corrective actions as required

  • Monitor compliance with cash handling, banking and reconciliation procedures while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Commercial Performance

  • Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators including sales, gross margin, labour costs, overheads, stockholding and profitability

  • Perform margin and pricing analysis to support commercial decision making

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, operational efficiency and financial performance across the business

  • Provide financial modelling and business cases to support investment decisions and strategic initiatives as required

Leadership & Business Partnering

  • Partner with the Operations Director/Store Owner to develop, challenge and deliver annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans, providing commercial insight to support strategic decision-making

  • Engage with store and group leadership teams to identify, prioritise and deliver profitability improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis and operational action plans

  • Lead, coach and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

  • Build strong working relationships with the senior management team, store management teams and key stakeholders across the business

  • Drive performance improvement through coaching and financial education of store management teams

  • Present financial performance, business risks and key recommendations to Operations Director, Store Owner and senior management teams.

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead the continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting tools and processes

  • Identify opportunities to automate/improve routine finance processes and enhance reporting efficiency

  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data across all systems

  • Lead and support finance related projects, new system implementations and continuous improvement initiatives as required
