Financial Controller

The Role

The successful candidate will join an organisation committed to building a high-performance finance function. Reporting to our client’s Board of Management, the Financial Controller will provide valuable information, detailed financial reporting, and data-driven insights to help our client achieve its strategic objectives and meet its statutory and regulatory obligations.

This role will ideally suit an experienced Financial Controller with excellent standards and a demonstrated history of leading the finance function in a high transaction environment. It is a hands-on role. The successful candidate will have a passion for accounting, leading people, and building great systems and processes.

The Candidate

Successful candidates will have:

• A third level qualification in business or a related discipline.

• A professional accountancy qualification (CPA/ACCA/ACA).

• 3+ years of experience in a Financial Controller role in a company with annual turnover of at least €10m.

• Experience in financial reporting.

• Experience in preparing statutory audit files for external audit compliance.

• A working knowledge of MS Office and accounts packages.

• Excellent communication skills.

• A passion for helping people.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To lead the monthly management accounts reporting for our client.
  • To provide monthly analysis and in-depth reporting on financial performance.
  • To manage and develop best practice accounting policies and internal financial controls and to ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards.
  • To review and monitor costs on an on-going basis.
  • To manage the accounts payable and debtor control functions.
  • To ensure all statutory returns are made accurately and on-time.
  • To coordinate audit and taxation reviews.
  • To co-ordinate the year-end reviews for the business.
  • To manage the flow of financial information to the Board of Management.
  • To lead and develop the Finance Team.
  • To liaise with external advisers, bankers, insurance companies, regulators, and financial institutions.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with all stakeholders in the business.
