Financial Controller
We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller to join the Support Office team at Ethos Care, based in Grand Parade, Cork City.
The Financial Controller will coordinate and oversee the smooth operation of the Finance Department within the Ethos Care Support Office. The role is responsible for producing monthly management accounts across all business units and working closely with the Finance Director on a range of financial matters affecting the organisation. Reporting to the Director of Finance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to)Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis against budgets
- Review monthly financial results with management, providing insight, feedback, and resolution of issues as they arise
Financial Control
- Oversee cost control and promote cost awareness across the organisation, including monitoring overhead expenditure
- Maintain the fixed asset register and process monthly depreciation journals across all business units
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany account reconciliations
- Supervise payroll operations for a workforce of 700+ employees
- Analyse labour cost ratios and produce departmental reports, highlighting significant variances against budget
- Support the preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with management teams and the Finance Director
- Continuously review and strengthen internal controls and financial processes
Financial Management
- Manage working capital, including debtor collections and creditor payments
- Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts for all business units and analyse company bank accounts
Compliance
- Complete Revenue and CSO statutory returns
- Prepare audit files and supporting documentation for the annual audit process
- Identify and assess potential grants or financial reliefs available to the organisation
Management
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations and work closely with the Finance team to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the Finance function
- Act as deputy for the Finance Director across all finance-related responsibilities when required
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA)
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Solid experience in financial reporting and accounting preparation
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in a finance function within industry
- Strong leadership ability and a collaborative team approach
- Effective communication skills with staff at all levels and external stakeholders
